Building Connections Campaign

After years of planning, the transformation of the South Orange Public Library is underway!

The Building Connections Project will create an essential place for South Orange residents of all ages, interests and needs to connect — with programming, services, resources, creative pursuits, information and each other.

Support from the entire community is needed to complete the project. Learn about the many ways you can contribute to help inspire generations of life-long learners, here.

Building Connections at a Glance

The project will transform programming, services, and spaces:

  • Inspiring, accessible entrance

  • 50% more space overall

  • Improved energy efficiency, climate control, and air quality

  • 100% larger Children’s Room

  • Tech-equipped meeting and conference rooms

  • Large community room

  • Small study rooms

  • ADA-compliance

  • Makerspace, tech studio, and teen area

  • Wood-paneled reading rooms

  • Food-friendly area

  • Local archives and collections

  • Plentiful seating, including outdoors

  • 40% more computers

  • LEAP and looping technologies

  • Wayfinding signage for self-navigation

  • Mobile displays for browsing and discovery

  • Inviting furnishings and lighting
